Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante redefines the split-seconds function
Breitling presents its Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante pilot's watch with a new chronograph caliber. The traditional company presented its first in-house caliber, the automatic watch movement B 01, which was developed and produced entirely in the Breitling workshops, in 2009. Breitling subsequently modified the movement several times. The now new automatic caliber B03 is a split-seconds chronograph. It is also known as the rattrapante mechanism.
Innovative watch movement
The Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante contains an exceptionally complex watch complication with the split-seconds mechanism. The innovation has already been registered as a patent by the watch company. The split-seconds function allows the wearer of the watch to measure two different time intervals at the same time. This is possible with the two separate chronograph hands. A crown is located on the case at the 3 o'clock position. It starts and stops the split second hand as often as desired by the wearer of the Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante. In the meantime, the chronograph hand continues to run simultaneously.
Stopping and starting the mechanism can affect the accuracy of the watch. That's why the watch company Breitling had to develop a new decoupling mechanism for the Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante. A cylindrical pin that normally performs this function has been replaced. Now a deep-drawn part takes its place. The already well-known Breitling movement B 01 serves as the basis for the new caliber. The mechanism for the split-seconds hand sits as a module on the automatic movement. This mechanism can be easily removed for revision. The B 03 is certified by the COSC.
Classics in fine materials
Fans of functional and highly precise pilot watches can buy the Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante in two versions. A version with a stainless steel housing is offered. There is also a watch in red gold with an exclusive bronze dial. The diameter of the luxurious watch is 45 millimeters. The Navitimer Rattrapante made of steel is worn on a brown crocodile leather strap. The model version in red gold is a limited edition. It is equipped with a black rubber strap.
