Zenith Pilot - pilot watches
As early as 1909, the Frenchman Louis Blériot wore a Zenith Pilot when crossing the English Channel. Years later he was still raving about how he wore the watch every day and would recommend it to everyone. The Zenith Pilot Type is a homage to the pioneers of aviation and is intended to commemorate the early years of the watch manufacturer. At the beginning of aviation, the brand equipped aircraft with self-built on-board instruments. Today, the look of the Pilot Type watches is reminiscent of that time. Especially with its retro look, the cathedral hands and the large Arabic numerals, which are coated with luminous material so that you can read the watch perfectly at any time. There are now different versions of the clock, in different sizes and made from different materials. The bronze casings of the watches, for example, develop their own patina over time, making each watch unique.
The history of Zenith watches
In 1865, Georges Favre-Jacot, then just 22 years old, founded the Fabrique des Billodes in the municipality of Le Locle, making it the first watch manufacturer. His priority was to have all parts manufactured in-house. It all started with precision pocket watches, later onboard chronometers, table clocks and precision pendulum clocks were added before it started with luxury wristwatches. In 1911 the brand received its new and current name, Zenith. The story goes that one evening Favre-Jacot completed a clockwork that, in his opinion, was the best designed up to that point. He then went outside and looked at the starry sky. There he found that celestial mechanics worked like a clockwork and therefore decided that the work he had just built and his company should bear the name of the highest point in the universe. So it is not surprising that a five-pointed star became the brand's corporate logo. This is still a symbol and the trademark of Zenith today. In 1969, the watch manufacturer succeeded in introducing the world's first automatic chronograph movement. This put it ahead of some other watch manufacturers. Even today it is described as the most accurate and best watch movement. Together with the watch manufacturer TAG Heuer, the manufacturer became part of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (LVMH) group in 1999. The watch manufacturer Hublot also belongs to this group.
