On the way to developing functional watches for diving, the Swiss watch manufacturer achieved a remarkable success back in 1957. At that time, the company launched a watch that was waterproof up to 20 bar. This proved to be the birth of the Superocean model series. The level of water resistance was a sensation at the time. Today, the Breitling Superocean II 42, as part of the collection, has a water resistance of up to 50 bar. With a case diameter of 42 millimeters, the diving watch is a rather small model. The dial of the Breitling Superocean II 42 is available in two colors: black and blue. Thanks to their italic, distinctive hour numerals, the dials are particularly easy to read. This important function for a diving watch is also ensured by the large hands. They are covered with luminous material. The dial itself is surrounded by a bevelled flange. This is available in five different colors.
Inspiring functionality
What is striking about the Breitling Superocean II 42 is the fluted bezel. These ribs make it easy to turn in one direction. Covered with cast rubber, the bezel impresses with large, perfectly legible numbers, a measuring scale for the remaining 15 minutes of diving and a triangle with luminous markings at 12 o'clock. This marks the starting position and the bezel can be easily adjusted again.
The case is made of polished stainless steel. An automatic movement with a chronometer certification carried out by the COSC ticks reliably inside. The coveted watch, which is suitable for diving and shore leave, is worn on a steel bracelet. Alternatively, Breitling offers a strap made of highly resistant rubber for the model.
