Cartier Panthere de Cartier
Panthere de Cartier - a piece of jewelry instead of a watch
In 1914, the first watch came onto the market with a panther motif, a striking stone setting that was modeled on the panther's fur. This Panthére had a round case with a square dial window. At that time, Roman numerals already adorned the dial. The panther became a stylistic element of Cartier and later also a heraldic animal. With the nickname “La Panthére” numerous bracelets, brooches, perfumes, sunglasses and many other fascinating creations were created to this day. It wasn't until a few years later, namely in 1983, that the first Cartier de Panthére was launched. Since its birth, the Panthére has enjoyed great popularity and has never been forgotten.
The Panthére owes its name to its five-part bracelet. Extremely flexible, with a suppleness to decorate any wrist, characteristics of the panther. The design was kept minimalistic by Cartier. The square shape with a silver dial, Roman numerals, the typical blued hands and the synthetic blue spinel on the polygonal winding crown. In combination with the very flat and polished case and bracelet, this watch shines more as a bracelet than a watch. As with all Cartier creations, the materials used for the watch are high-quality and distinctive. Stainless steel, 750 yellow, and/or rose gold and sparkling diamonds. There are over 30 models in the Panthére family. The high-precision quartz movements ensure the very flat case. As a piece of jewelry, all Panthére de Cartier watches only have a water resistance of up to 3 bar. The eight screws on the bezel are intended to be reminiscent of the Santos de Cartier (the women's counterpart to Santos).
The appearance of the Panthére has not changed much over the years. Three standard sizes have been established in the collection. They accompany the collection in different materials and combinations. Exceptions are the magnificent cuff watches and the double-wrapped bracelet as solid gold models. The new edition of the Cartier Panthére brings a fresh and modern touch. These four new models have a colored dial and have no Roman numerals or indices. Clear, minimalist and extravagant.
