IWC Da Vinci
The IWC Da Vinci honors innovation and fine art
The IWC Da Vinci watch collection impresses with its selected design language and technical finesse. In this way, the watches from Schaffhausen pay homage to their namesake. Their ingenuity and aesthetics are convincing. The IWC Da Vinci delights lovers of the fine art of watchmaking.
The highest art of watchmaking
With the Da Vinci at the end of the 1960s, IWC wanted to celebrate the innovative spirit of the great master of the Italian Renaissance. In 1969, the first watch of the same name appeared with an eye-catching, hexagonal case. Long indices and simple hands characterized the face of the watch. As a unique design piece, the model had an avant-garde look typical of the time. The then new Beta 21 quartz movement worked in the watch. With it, Swiss watchmakers opened up to electronic watch movements.
The first model of the Da Vinci was only produced for a short time. The successor model, the IWC Da Vinci Automatic Vintage 1969, took up its striking design. The hexagonal housing was elongated slightly. The caseback made of sapphire crystal allows a view of the excellent in-house caliber 80111. The high-quality appearance of the automatic watch was further supported on the dial by the applied indices and polished baton hands.
Masterpiece with innovative technology
The IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar is celebrated worldwide. This timepiece boasts a calendar mechanism. It was designed by the legendary IWC watchmaker Kurt Klaus. The Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar was IWC's first chronograph to have a completely mechanically programmed perpetual calendar and a four-digit year display. The sophisticated calendar also recognizes the different lengths of the months and leap years. It wasn't until the year 2100 that it needed adjustment by a watchmaker.
IWC opened a new chapter in 2007. The IWC Da Vinci models were given a tonneau-shaped case. Refined mechanics complement the elegant appearance. The dial of the Da Vinci automatic is clear. With the Da Vinci Chronograph you can stop short times. The Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month combines digital and analog displays.
