IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar
The IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar collection consists of two fascinating models that have a perpetual calendar as their distinguishing feature. The calendar function is designed to last almost forever, as it is programmed approximately 577 years in advance. The perpetual calendar was designed by the famous IWC designer Kurt Klaus and has been continually developed ever since. As part of the calendar function, the Portuguese Perpetual Calendar has a date, weekday, month and four-digit year display. The caliber also powers the perpetual display of the moon phases, both for the southern and northern hemisphere. This fascinating wristwatch is rounded off by the power reserve display.
Precision over half a century
The fact that the movement of the IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar has only deviated by a single day in 577 years speaks for its precision and that this luxury watch is designed to last a very long time. A special feature that only a few watches have is the mirrored moon phase display, which is therefore valid for both hemispheres. The versatile displays are powered by the caliber 52615 automatic movement, which has a power reserve of seven days and shines with 54 jewels and the patented Pellaton winding.
Portuguese meets calendar function
Another special feature is the traditional railway minute track, which the designers from IWC based themselves on. The IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar is available in two beautiful versions, one made of 18-carat red gold with a sapphire crystal back through which you can see the inside of the watch. Thanks to high-quality screw connections, the luxury watch is waterproof up to three bar. The red gold version is combined with an Ardoise dial and an alligator leather strap. The 18-karat white gold model has a midnight blue dial and a black alligator strap. Despite the four sub-dials and the numerous calendar functions, the main dial remains surprisingly clear, which is also helped by the slim Arabic numerals.
