Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic collection is part of a very special tradition in the history of the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture. The International Geophysical Year 1958 inspired the designers of this quality watchmaker to create the previous Geophysic model, giving rise to a series of luxury watches that are still popular today for their creativity. The timepieces are a tribute to research, science and pioneering spirit. The clockworks are highly complex and simple at the same time. The appearance of the wristwatches ranges from timelessly puristic to excitingly playful. Every globetrotter and geography fan will find themselves in this collection.

Simple or extravagant

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic series is controversial and combines two extremes into an interesting collection. While three models with a stainless steel case and one with a red gold case impress with their puristic and sober dials, on which no line is superfluous, four other models stand out from the crowd thanks to their wealth of details. These four watches from the Geophysic series stand out because of the representation of the world map, which can be clearly seen on the dial. The hands rotate around the North Pole, which is in the center. Around the world map are the names of different cities and regions, so that the time can be read in every time zone on earth.

Versatile functions in a sophisticated design

Several of the watches from the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic collection have the True Second function. This mechanism causes the second hand to make a tiny jump every second instead of simply sliding across the dial. The clockworks are equipped with a non-circular balance wheel called a gyrolab. This reduces air friction to a minimum and makes timekeeping even more precise. In the very special variation, the Geophysic Tourbillon, which has a case made of platinum, there is a circular opening within the world map through which a view of the movement with its 42 jewels is visible.
