Omega Speedmaster

The Omega Speedmaster impresses with its traditional design

For over fifty years, the Omega Speedmaster has been part of many great moments. Since March 1965, this has been part of every manned NASA mission. As part of the equipment, the remarkable watch occupies a special place in the history of space exploration. The pinnacle of human daring was undoubtedly the manned landing of mankind on the moon in 1969. When the second man, the American astronaut Buzz Aldrin, set foot on the surface of the moon, he wore the Speedmaster Professional on his wrist. This extraordinary watch has since made a name for itself as the Moonwatch.

Consistent in its appearance

The Omega Speedmaster is and remains one of the most famous watch models in history. The legendary watch was born in 1957. Since then, it has been a central part of the collections of the traditional Swiss company, with an almost unchanged appearance. As with the landing on the moon in 1969, the watch is still equipped with a caliber that is set in motion by hand winding. The hesalite glass has also been a feature of the watch for more than five decades. Customers appreciate this adherence to tradition. The racing driver's watch continues to enjoy unbroken popularity with them to this day. The design of the chronograph is inspired by the fittings of Italian racing cars. The tachymeter scale is located on the bezel. Important parameters such as short-term measurements or hourly speed are therefore easier to read.

Spectacular new interpretation

Despite its consistent design, the Omega Speedmaster range has received a number of new model variants over the years. These special editions are usually limited editions that further increase the value of the watch range. One of the most exciting reinterpretations of the watch was in 2011. It was launched as the Speedmaster Moonwatch Co-Axial Chronograph. The model's exceptional details included the automatic movement from Omega's workshops, a co-axial mechanism and, of course, the famous Moonwatch design. With a larger case of 44.25 millimeters, the model is ideal for lovers of large timepieces.
