The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date was introduced in 1956 and was the first timepiece to display not only the date but also the day of the week in a window on the dial.
The case of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date is available in yellow , white , Everose gold or platinum . It has a domed, fluted or diamond bezel (yellow gold model), a fluted or diamond bezel (white gold model), a domed or fluted bezel (Everose gold model) and a domed or diamond bezel (platinum model). It has a diameter of 36 mm and is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres.
The movement of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date is a Rolex manufacture movement with self-winding. It has an automatic date and day of the week change with quick correction. The day of the week is written out in one of several world languages and it has a paramagnetic blue Parachrom Breguet hairspring.
The watch has a President bracelet with a Crownclasp folding clasp or an Oyster bracelet with a Crownclasp folding clasp, except for the models with the ref. no. 118135, 118138 and 118139 which have a leather strap with an Oysterclasp folding clasp.
