Superlative chronometers
Precision and maximum accuracy are important characteristics of luxury watches. Customers who buy valuable chronometers or even superlative chronometers can rely on their reliability. Today, only watches that have successfully undergone an endurance test of 15 days are allowed to advertise themselves with the term chronometer. You will then receive the official gait certificate.
Chronometer tests provide information
Well-known official chronometer tests were developed in Switzerland. The Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) is the official Swiss testing center for chronometers. It decides with a 15-day test whether a watch movement can be called a chronometer. In Germany, too, watches are tested for chronometer suitability in the observatory in Glashütte in accordance with DIN 8319. The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) in turn awards the Master Chronometer seal, which was achieved by the Omega Globemaster, among others.
Rolex founded the superlative chronometer
The traditional company Rolex also introduced the highest standards for its watches in 2015. In order to receive the “Superlative Chronometer” certificate, the watches must pass the tests specially developed by Rolex. During these tough tests, both the movement and the fully assembled watch are tested. A superlative chronometer must have extremely precise accuracy. Only deviations that do not exceed plus two seconds and minus two seconds per day are tolerated. These are stricter criteria than the COSC sets for its certificates. The watches must also be waterproof.
The highest quality is guaranteed
The Oyster Perpetual models from Rolex, for example, have been awarded the Super Chronometer certificate. The seal also includes an internationally valid guarantee of five years. This means that customers who buy a Superlative chronometer can rely on high quality, absolute longevity and excellent accuracy. In addition to the Rolex seal, there is also that of the COSC. Rolex watches are also tested here.
