TAG Heuer Monaco

The TAG Heuer Monaco sets standards as a classic watch

When it appeared in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco revolutionized the watch landscape. In addition to the square watch case, the self-winding chronograph movement was responsible for this.

Precision and boldness of a legend

The extraordinary racing driver's watch takes its name from the famous Monaco Grand Prix. Formula 1 races take place there every year. Jack Heuer, great-grandson of the founder of the legendary Heuer watch manufacturer and motorsports lover, wanted to create a watch specifically for racing drivers. In the car racing film 'Le Mans', Hollywood legend Steve McQueen made the Tag Heuer Monaco a symbol of racing.

The Tag Heuer Monaco represents Heuer's technical expertise. It was equipped with the automatic chronograph caliber 11. The dial has the words “Chronomatic” at the top and “Monaco” at the bottom. The watch is characterized by one button, one at the two and one at the four o'clock position. The original Monaco has a date window at six o'clock.

Classics reinterpreted In 2009, Tag Heuer released a new variant of the Tag Heuer Monaco. Now there is a powerful work in the new interpretation of the classic. The case is still square. The linear scale with its red second hand made of rhodium makes it easy to read the time.

Polished facets and transparent, raised indices create harmonious contrasts on the dial. The chronograph indicators and a square date display are also eye-catchers. The case dimensions are 39 by 39 millimeters. The timepiece is also waterproof up to 10 bar. Polished or brushed stainless steel is the material for the case. Domed sapphire crystal covers the dial. Customers can choose a watch strap made of stainless steel or alligator leather.

Watch for celebrities
With the Tag Heuer, Steve McQueen is setting a trend that other celebrities are also continuing. In the film 'Thunderbirds' veteran Bill Paxton wears the famous watch. Actor Al Pacino shows a chronograph from the Monaco series in the thriller '88 Minutes'. Younger stars, such as Will Smith and Brad Pitt, also prove to be fans of this special watch.
