Since its founding in 1846 by the young watchmaker Ulysse Nardin, the Le Locle-based manufacturer has continually demonstrated the innovative power of Swiss watchmaking. The measuring instruments and watches launched by the company over the years continue to set standards in precision, reliability and style to this day. From the very beginning, a deep connection with the sea has shaped the eventful history and present of the watch manufacturer. The company built its reputation with the development of technically high-quality marine chronometers and diving watches. The traditional house was brought into the present by Rolf W. Schnyder in the 1980s.

The Swiss watch manufacturer has received more than 4,000 awards over the decades for its maritime chronometers alone. The innovations with which the Ulysse Nardin company has repeatedly surprised lovers of high-quality luxury watches around the world are legendary. In the Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon watch, for example, the minute hand is held by ropes like a mast. The material of these threads is extremely thin polyethylene, which can hold more than a kilo of weight. The perpetual calendar, which was developed by watchmaker Ludwig Oechslin for the watch company, can be set forwards and backwards using the crown. This calendar does not need to be corrected until the year 2100. The first clock with two time zones also came from the Oechslin workshop. With the “Freak” series, the company showed models without a dial, hands and crown. Silicon was also used here for the first time in a clockwork. This means that the escapement of the watch does not need any lubricants. The friction between the individual parts is significantly lower.
