In the very first watch collection, the women's model Chanel Première, the shape of the dial is intended to be reminiscent of Place Vendôme, but also of the cap of the famous Chanel N°5 bottle. Today's wristwatches are still equipped with a quartz movement, i.e. a battery. But a collection was also quickly designed for men. In 2000, Chanel launched the J12 sports model. Equipped with an automatic caliber and made of robust and, above all, scratch-resistant ceramic. Jacques Helleu decided to make the watch in black because this color has always been at the top of Coco Chanel's list. It wasn't until 2003 that a white model came onto the market.
The J12 was designed primarily for men's wrists. However, women at that time also wanted to wear larger and more expressive watches, which meant that wristwatches were now seen on men and women. Above all, the robust ceramic made the watch something special. Under the new head of watch design, Arnaud Chastaingt, the J12 underwent gentle but almost 70 percent evolution. You can only recognize this if you have an old and new model at the same time. The biggest development in it is the new, improved and slightly thicker in-house caliber 12.1, which can be viewed through the viewing glass base.

However, what was also used in a few models are diamonds. Here the bar indices were simply replaced again.
