"1815" - the birth of a watchmaking genius
The name of the collection is no coincidence: the founder of the company A. Lange & Söhne, Ferdinand Adolph Lange, was born in 1815. Exactly three decades later, the genius founded the A. Lange & Sohne manufactory in Glashütte near Dresden. To this day, the company is one of the most renowned watch brands in Germany. It stands for high-quality timepieces that, despite all the technical and functional advances, have retained their original charm, the charm that wristwatches had when they first came onto the market. The high-quality models in the 1815 series are excellent representatives of these features.
Elegance paired with first-class quality
All watches from A. Lange & Söhne GmbH impress with their extremely elegant appearance and outstanding quality. The 1815 Up/Down version with manual winding, for example, refers with its name to the power reserve indicator typical of A. Lange & Söhne, which was already used in historical pocket watches and marine chronometers. The company received the patent for this function in 1879. In addition to this unique selling point, the Up/Down model has a small second with stop-second function and a 72-hour power reserve. Visually, it shines with its red gold or white gold case, blued hands and robust leather strap. The chronograph Ref. 402.032 with flyback from the "1815" series is also unique, combining traditional elements with modern mechanics. Among other things, the precisely jumping minute counter and the 60-hour power reserve are worth mentioning - apart from the 18-carat red gold case and the brown alligator leather strap with pin buckle.
