Cartier Tank Must, a tradition reinvented

In 1916, Louis Cartier created the Cartier Tank, creating an icon and one of the first wristwatches in history. Louis Cartier broke conventions with the watch because he said goodbye to the classic round shapes. He relied on clear shapes with two striking side bars, which gave the watch its name. Even after 100 years, the model from the traditional company still impresses with its precision and timeless design. The watch is constantly being reinterpreted and retains its recognition value.

  • Fine materials and a variety of models

The watch is available in different versions for men and women. Cartier offers the watch in three sizes; as a small model (29.5 x 22 mm), large model (33.7 x 25.5 mm) and as an XL model (41 mm x 31 mm). The timepiece has a pearlized crown with a synthetic spinel cabochon. The two parallel side bars are the trademark of the watch. The watch has a synthetic, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and is splash-proof with a water resistance of up to 3 bar.

The Cartier Tank is available in the following dial colors, classic with silver and Roman numerals as well as with a Flinqué dial in silver. The Flinqué dial is only used in the XL version, with the references WSTA0053 and WSTA0040. The black Roman numerals are strict, striking and expressive. The sword-shaped hands made of blued steel are a splash of color.

If you want a little more elegance and extravagance, you can purchase the small model, reference W4TA0016, and the large model, reference W4TA0017, with a diamond bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds. This version is equipped with a black, brushed calf leather strap. The Tank Must is available on a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The leather bracelet is available with a pin or folding clasp. The Cartier Tank Must is made exclusively from robust stainless steel that is suitable for everyday use.

  • Proven technology and contemporary innovations

The small and large model of the Tank Must is powered by a quartz movement with a lifespan of up to eight years and is represented by Cartier under the references WSTA0052, WSTA0051, WSTA0041 and WSTA0040. In addition, the two sizes are also available with a new, innovative “photovoltaic clockwork Solarbeat” and with a vegan vegetable leather alternative. The small model has the reference WSTA0060 and the large model has the reference WSTA0059. There is also a large model, reference WSTA0062, with a light blue leather strap and a small model, reference WSTA0061, with a green leather strap. With this technical progress, Cartier keeps up with the times and stands up for environmental protection and biodiversity.

The Roman numerals are finely and invisibly perforated; through these small openings the solar energy reaches the photovoltaic cells, which are located under the dial. The photovoltaic clockwork is an advanced alternative and no longer requires the hassle of changing batteries. The bracelet is made of vegetable substances obtained from apple waste. The advantage of producing the calf leather strap is that less water and less energy are required for production. The XL model is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement called Caliber 1847 MC and has a date function at 6 o'clock. The caliber has a power reserve of 48 hours.

It is timeless and Cartier has established a watch classic with its unique design language. The Tank Must embodies a special design that is elegant, everlasting and yet subtle.
